SUP protests against political interference in Sindh police

HYDERABAD: Activists of Sindh United Party (SUP) took out a rally on Thursday to mark black day against large-scale corruption and political interference in Sindh police.

Addressing the demonstrators, SUP central general secretary Roshan Ali Buriro condemned political interference in Sindh police and said that Pakistan Peoples Party government always wanted to have its favourite IGP. The party’s interference was intolerable, he said.

He said that there were good and honest senior superintendents of police, deputy inspectors general of police and other officers but they were not allowed to work freely and without pressure.

He said that PPP had ruled the province for over a decade and converted police force into “Zardari force” through political appointments. People of Sindh were deprived of justice, he said, adding that Supreme Court and Sindh High Court must stop political meddling to ensure transparency in the force so that transfer and posting was made on merit and speedy justice was delivered to people.

SUKKUR: Activists of Sindh United Party (SUP) took out rally in Jacobabad on Thursday in protest against arrest of the party’s Tangwani chapter president and police failure to catch killers of Qaimuddin Sarki, killed in Thull taluka of Jacobabad district.

The rally started from Shaheed Allah Bux Park and marched on different roads before reaching the press club where a sit-in was held.

The protesters led by Ashiq Pathan, Fida Hussain Lakhan, Abid Inqilabi and others said that the Tangwani police tortured SUP leaders including the town chapter president Rahamdil Lashari when they were holding a peaceful protest in the town.
