Govt asked to improve flour quality, control prices

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party has expressed its serious concern over the shutter down strike of nanbais and asked the government to resolve the issue as early as possible and improve the quality of wheat flour being supplied by local mills.

A member of the party’s central executive committee, Rahim Dad Khan, told mediapersons here on Tuesday that the government had failed to come up to the expectations of people as it was unable even to ensure availability of flour at a reasonable price.

He said that the government was duty-bound to take immediate steps for controlling the price hike.

He said that those claiming to bring change in the lives of people within the first 90 days of their government had brought the country to the verge of bankruptcy, mainly due to frequent U-turns and non-serious economic measures.

The PPP leader said that everyone was frustrated due to the flawed policies of the government while the rulers were still making claims of bringing positive change in the lives of people.

About flour crisis, he said that the government was distributing subsidised flour among people, but it was of substandard quality.

He said that it was observed for the first time that the ministers were unaware of the basics of politics as they were unable to comprehend the nature of problems and resolve them.

He feared that a civil war-like situation could arise in the country as the nation was being befooled in the name of ‘langar khana’ and ‘poultry’ schemes.

Rahim Dad alleged that the government’s foreign policy was a failure as the country was facing isolation on the international level. He said that the PPP had rendered sacrifices for strengthening democratic process in the country.

He said that conspiracies had always been hatched against PPP, but none of the opponents would succeed to weaken it.

He said that the people could no more tolerate price hike and uncertainty in the country and it would be better for the government to step down in the larger interest of the nation.
