One killed, 10 injured after wagon hits wall

RAWALPINDI: One person was killed and 10 others were injured when a passenger wagon crashed into the boundary wall of Benazir Bhutto International Airport and overturned on Airport Road on Tuesday.

The wagon coming from Soan and heading towards Islamabad met the accident while avoiding a motorcyclist.

As a result, the wagon driver, Ghulam Kibria, 25, died on the spot while the 10 passengers sustained multiple injuries.

Rescue 1122 emergency staff immediately reached the scene and shifted the injured to Benazir Bhutto Hospital.

Meanwhile, two students of a madressah were hospitalised after they suffered burn injuries due to electric shock in Naseerabad area on Tuesday.

Shan Nazir, 13 and 10-year-old Aziz Nazar were playing with an iron rod on the madressah’s rooftop when it hit a high tension electric wire passing over their head.

Both boys sustained 30 and 45pc burns and were shifted to Holy Family Hospital where they are stated to be in critical condition.
