Technical education classes start in boys’ schools

RAWALPINDI: Technical education classes have been started in F.G. Public School No. 2 for Boys, Tariqabad, administered by Federal Government Educational Institutions (FGEI) Cantonment Garrison Directorate, Rawalpindi.

According to a spokesman, F.G. Public School No. 2 for Boys Chaklala, is also reintroducing technical education after 10 years on the recommendation of a newly-formed committee comprising educational experts.

The committee members include principal Irshad Khan, principal Afzal Tahir, vice principal Masaudul Hasan Qazi, retired vice principal Fazal Rahman, vice principal Mohammad Yaqub Malik, educationists and former technical instructors.

These experts recommended reestablishment of technical institutions in the FGEIs.

Classes of electrical work, woodwork, metal work and computer hardware have started in accordance with the curriculum of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, hence technical workshops have been upgraded and made functional.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, FGEI Cantonment Garrison Directorate Director General Maj Gen Mohammed Asghar said technology was important and technical education was of fundamental importance in modern times.

“Industries also need young people with technical skills. Educational institutions administered by the FGEI Directorate have played a central role in the delivery of technical education and the directorate is active in providing the required quality education and expertise,” he said.

“Our educational institutions should improve education as well as training and research,” he said.

Educational institutions should take important steps to provide the required quality training so that students do not get beaten up for employment after the acquisition of education and should be able to do so immediately,he added.

FGEIs Deputy Director (Chaklala Region) Col Saadatullah, Lt Col Agha Javed Akbar Khan, Principal Mohammad Afzal Tahir, Principal Irshad Khan, teachers, students and others were also present on the occasion.
