Road to KP blocked for hours in protest against murder

MIANWALI: Scores of enraged inhabitants of Chapri village of tehsil Isakhel blocked Mianwali-Bannu road at Kot-Chandna in protest against a murder and suspended traffic to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for a couple of hours on Sunday morning.

As per details, Shehzad Ali, the son of Maizullah of Chapri village, had disappeared mysteriously on his way to Mianwali on Jan 1 and his parents reported the matter to the Chapri Police Station.

On Saturday, the body of Shehzad was found in the mountains on the Shakardara Road in the area of the Kalabagh Police Station.

The family and other villagers were enraged over lack of interest of the police to trace the missing Shehzad, alleging that the police were responsible for his death. The held a protest against police.

The protesters put tyres on fire on the road and chanted slogans against the police. A heavy police contingent of police from Isakhel, headed by SDPO ASP Abdul Lateef, reached Kot Chandna to hold talks with the agitating people.

On the assurance by him that the murderers would be traced and arrested, the mob dispersed after two hours road blockade.

Meanwhile, DPO Mianwali Hassan Asad Alvi directed ASP Abdul Lateef and Chapri SHO Sajid Khan to arrest the culprits within 48 hours. According to the police sources, Chapri police have arrested a suspect in the case.
