New school syllabus in cantt areas from next session

RAWALPINDI: The Directorate of Federal Government Educational Institutions (FGEIs) cantonments/garrisons has decided to change the syllabus from class 1 to VIII from the academic session 2020-21.

According to a spokesman, the decision has been taken after a series of sessions held by committees of subject specialists and experts on curriculum review.

He said the curriculum from class 1 to VIII would be in line with the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) Islamabad textbooks following National Curriculum Framework 2017.

For this purpose, various publishers were approached for provision of books on subsidised rates, he said, adding the publishers had shown willingness to provide required books to the students by organising book fairs in schools after declaration of results.

The publishers will also provide free textbooks to the wards of martyrs and orphan student of class one to five, he added. In this regard, the directorate has issued instructions to the publishers.

The publishers of textbooks (classes I to VIII) will ensure that the contents, exercises, diagrams, maps etc., are in accordance with the National Curriculum Framework 2017.

They have also been directed that the textbooks published by them would not have any traces of extremism, religiously conflicting and biased contents. The publishers will provide standard quality books as per samples provided to the FGEIs and as per quality of textbooks being provided to FDE.
