‘Irregularities’ in teachers’ selection protested

GHALANAI: Candidates having qualified the Eata test for posts of primary schoolteachers gathered outside the Mohmand Press Club to protest alleged irregularities in the selection process on Wednesday.

The candidates carrying placards and chanting slogans against the education department blocked the road outside the press club.

Mohmand Siyasi Itehad president and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl local emir Maulana Mohammad Arif Haqqani and general secretary Fazal Hadi and other political workers also addressed the protesters and demanded of the high-ups to look into the matter and resolve the candidates’ genuine problems on a priority basis.

They complained that marks allocation formula was against the rules and regulations, which was unacceptable to them. They said that candidates were intentionally ignored and not allowed to participate in the interview.

“There were about 200 candidates with BS four-year degree, but they have been excluded from the interview for the posts of primary schoolteacher,” a candidate said.

Another candidate said that youth of Mohmand tribal district were already facing unemployment, and the government was adding salt to their injuries.
