Schools: SC orders

IN September 2019, a three-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan comprising Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Faisal Arab issued a 65-page verdict directing private schools to charge monthly fee according to the base fee of July 2017.

It was expected that private schools will abide by the verdict because court orders were clear. My three children are enrolled in Pak Turk Maarif Foundation School, Khairpur Campus. In spite of parents’ frequent requests, the school administration is not ready to review the fee structure according to the SC order.

Not only this, but children of those parents who raise a voice against this injustice are being harassed by this school management. Besides, various profiteering measures are being taken by school management such as forcing parents to purchase stationery and school uniform from particular vendors.

Resultantly, parents are compelled to purchase 200 per cent to 300pc costlier uniforms. Ten photocopied pages of some material are being provided for Rs100 to Rs200. This year sales tax has been collected too in addition to the actual price mentioned on uniforms.

I request the Chief Justice of Pakistan to issue contempt of court notices to private schools for not complying with its verdict.
