From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1970: Fifty Years Ago: Praise for PAF

PESHAWAR: President Yahya Khan said today [Jan 10] that the Pakistan Air Force had turned into a “strong deterrent force” by relying on own initiative and resources and had shown “remarkable ability” to adapt itself to a variety of new equipment and ideas.

Addressing a smartly turned out graduation parade of the PAF Academy at Risalpur, the President paid tributes to the officers and men of the PAF for their efforts that had gone into the making of the existing fibre of the Air Force “under some of the most adverse circumstances”. The President expressed confidence that the needs of the future would continue to be met by the Air Force in a similar manner.

He also appreciated the standard of drill and turnout and the precision demonstration in the parade. The President said that these were impressive reminders of the sterling qualities which were bred and inculcated in the Academy.

“The P.A.F. displays these qualities in war as well as in peace,” the President added. President Yahya also advised the graduated cadets to regard proper performance of their duties as the primary task and mission of their lives.- Agency
