CAIRO: It is understood that the Egyptian Legation in Washington has informed the Egyptian Government that it will cost about £300,000 to establish a propaganda centre in Washington to spread knowledge of Arab affairs and alms.

Iraq has offered to contribute £100,000 leaving £200,000 to be found by the Egyptian and other Arab Governments. As an agreement of the responsibility of finding this sum is likely to take some time, the Iraqi Government has proposed that the centre be opened with the Iraqi contribution. This proposal will be discussed at the forthcoming meeting of foreign ministers in Cairo.

[Meanwhile, as reported from Calcutta,] Sir Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, presiding over the second session of the All-India Music Congress, which commences here today [Jan 5], said that the tradition of this country had been common to all races and communities. Here in this Music Congress, it had been possible for all of them — Hindus and Muslims — to come together on a common platform and produce that psychological make-up which would take shape in political expression. It had given an impressive testimony to the unity of Indian culture at a time when separate standing was found so much in politics.
