Cook-it-yourself: Oreo brownies

There are almost, if not as many, kinds of brownies as there are cakes. There are the fudgy ones, the cakey ones, the nutty ones, the flourless or eggless ones and what not. While these all vary on the inside, on the outside they all have crackly tops, and you can usually skip the icing on the top too.

I came across an interesting recipe that I couldn’t resist trying immediately because it has Oreos in it. Yes, Oreo brownies! And this truly

was a very simple recipe, the perfect one for any lazy baker who doesn’t want to make something from stretch but still wants to bake a delightful treat.

This recipe used readymade brownie mix, which I too used, but it can easily be replaced by any brownie recipe of your choice. I just added egg, oil and water, as instructed in the box, and my batter was ready!

All it then required was a layer of Oreos in between and into the oven it went.

A warm Oreo brownie is just what you need to beat the chill this winter.

Ingredients

• 1 packet brownie mix, any brand and the required ingredients as instructed in the box

• 1 package of Oreo cookies

Method

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line an 8×8 baking pan with baking paper, and grease it a bit.

Prepare the box brownie mix according to package directions.

Spread about half of the brownie batter into the bottom of the baking pan. Next, place Oreos side by side on top of the brownie batter.

Once the Oreos are in the pan, gently and evenly spread the rest of the brownie batter over the top of the Oreos.

Place in the oven to bake for as long as instructed in the packet, usually about bake 35-40 minutes if baking in an 8×8 pan and if using a 9×13 pan, it will take 25-30 minutes.

Remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting into squares.
