Traders oppose FBR’s POS move

PESHAWAR: The business community has rejected the FBR’s plan to establish points of sales (POS) in Peshawar markets and warned to agitate in case any move was initiated without taking the relevant stakeholders into confidence.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held at the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Monday.

SCCI senior vice-president Shahid Hussain, vice-president Abdul Jalil Jan, former president Malik Niaz Ahmed, FPCCI former president Ghazanfar Bilour, Anjuma-i-Tajiran Peshawar chairman Shaukat Ali Khan, representatives of traders’ unions of the city, cantonment and the University Road, participated in the meeting.

The traders said militancy had already played havoc with the businesses in the province and now the FBR had started unfair treatment of the business community.

The meeting through a resolution urged FBR high-ups to avoid creating unrest among the business community. They said the traders had serious reservations about the POS system as it was totally vague.

The resolution said in case the FBR attempted to implement its decisions unilaterally then the business community would react strongly.
