From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1969: Fifty Years Ago: Electoral rolls for Malakand

KARACHI: West Pakistan Election Authority has announced that the Electoral Rolls Order 1369 will be applicable to Malakand Agency, excluding Bajaur area.

It has already been made applicable to Chitral, Dir and Swat districts of Malakand division, where the electoral rolls are under preparation.

The Electoral Rolls Order 1969 has also been made applicable to Zhob district and the tribal areas of Loralai, Chagai and Hazara districts.

The Provincial Election Authority is now busy finalising the preliminaries and will soon announce the dates for the preparation of the electoral rolls in these areas. — Radio Pakistan [Meanwhile, as reported by an agency in Jammu (Occupied Kashmir),] Some 54 people, mostly old people and children, have died of influenza and measles in the Kishtwar region of Jammu district during the past fortnight, puppet Government official said here today [Dec 29].

The officials denied reports in some Srinagar newspapers that over 100 people had died in the area.

Unofficial reports reaching here said Influenza had hit several other districts of Kashmir.
