Coaching courses play vital role in any sport: Asif Azeem

KARACHI: SOA vice-chairman Asif Azeem distributes certificates among participating archers at the four-day course here on Monday as VP Mahfoozul Haq, Ahmed Rajput and SAA president Sana Ali look on.

KARACHI: Coaching courses play vital role in any sport as they help polish the players’ skills and technique and also boost the knowledge about rules for the participating coaches and umpires.

This was stated by Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) vice-chairman Asif Azeem who was chief guest on Monday at the closing ceremony of the four-day archery coaching course which was organised by the Sindh Archery Association (SAA). A total of 48 archers from across Karachi participated in the course, conducted by chief instructor Farrukh Bilal.

SOA vice-president Mehfooz-ul-Haq, secretary Ahmed Ali Rajput, Sindh Archery Association president Sana Ali, Mohammad Taqi and others were also present on the occasion.

Asif further said that people in Sindh possess great sporting skills just like any other field and promotion of sports is the key for raising a healthy society.

He also praised SAA for inviting young archery coaches to attend the course. “This will bear fruit in times to come,” he said. “Talented coaches should also be sent abroad to attend coaches courses in order to enhance their skills which will help Pakistan groom competent archers in future.”

Mehfooz also reiterated that if local coaches get opportunities to enhance their skills abroad, then they can coach Pakistan archers well.

“This certainly can help our archers perform well at international arena,” he said.
