HYDERABAD: Sindh Taraqqi-pasand Party (STP) chairman Dr Qadir Magsi has urged the Sindh government to make the judicial inquiry report into Dr Nimrita’s death public because everyone, including her heirs, wanted to know how her case was handled.
He warned that the STP could give a call for a wheel-jam strike in Sindh if justice was not done in the case. If the report was not publicised, the party would feel ministers living around Larkana were involved in it.
Dr Magsi was addressing party workers outside the local press club on Thursday in connection with struggle for justice for Dr Nimrita. Lambasting police and the government for not resolving the murder case, he said the STP would set up a hunger strike camp in Karachi from Friday.
He wondered why the rulers were not arresting the culprits. Had it been a suicide, evidence would have proven it as such, he said.
The STP demanded the DNA examination of all those connected with Dr Nimrita should be analysed from a Lahore laboratory. In Zainab’s case hundreds of DNA samples were collected and then the culprit was arrested, he said.
He said evidence in Nimrita case was sent for analysis quite late and fingerprints could not be matched due to delay.
Either culprits or the government delayed collection of evidence in cases, he said, adding that three months had passed but neither the government nor police had taken any position.
He said a report of the judicial inquiry had been sent to the Sindh chief minister and only he (CM) could disclose it now. He stated that it was a public property and must be made public so that everyone, including the heirs, could read its findings.
If justice was not done in that case, parents would stop sending their children to universities and a generation would remain uneducated. It was a question of future generations’ safety, he observed.
Being critical of corruption in Sindh’s universities, he said admissions were given after receiving money. Teachers were also involved in unscrupulous activities with students, he alleged, adding that the STP would rid universities of such criminals.
