Wanted ‘TTP militant’ held

KARACHI: The Sindh police’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a wanted militant linked with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

Acting on a tip-off, the CTD carried out an action in the Old Sabzi Mandi area and apprehended the suspect, Rehmat Ali.

CTD SSP (Investigation) Malik Altaf said that the held militant was a “commander” of the banned militant outfit in Buner area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He along with other TTP militants had attacked and occupied a check post being manned by personnel of Frontier Constabulary in April 2009 in Buner, which remained under their control for one month. The occupation of the check post was vacated after the army operation there.
