Website review: The world of music

Recently, I came across a website that made me wonder how easily we forget other means of entertainment and information and keep ourselves hooked to only social networking sites. What I mean from other sources is the ‘radio’ services.

Radio has been around from a very long time, and with time it has also become technically advanced. The site in review today impressed me a lot and I immediately decided to bring it into your attention too. This is www.radio.garden.com— a treasure trove of radio stations, not hundreds, but thousands of stations at one place, on the globe!

Radio Garden provides you a wonderful experience of connectivity with the world through variety of radio stations from various regions and cultures. You can navigate and stop by on your favourite area, city, country, island or continent on the globe.

To begin with, as you open the site, you will notice a complete blue screen, with a play symbol in the middle and “Press play to start radio garden”. By pressing the button, you will enter the world of music. Literally. You will see the globe with tiny and medium-sized neon green dots scattered all over the globe; these are all radio stations.

Tiny dots indicate one station while medium-sized dots indicate more than one stations in that area. When you click any of these dots, you will see name of the area and time appears on bottom left side of the screen and on the top right, the name of the station appears.

You can listen to stations from even Bahamas, Galapagos island, etc. In simple words, you name it and you will find it. You can search a country and listen to its stations or do it manually by zooming in and out, pinching with the hand curser on the globe to move it up, down and around. The website offers options of saving your favourite stations and sharing the site or any station on Twitter, Facebook and email.

While you are enjoying your winter break, bring some music from around the world by visiting,
