Dawn criticised

DAWN has been a source of highly valuable information to its readers through news and articles on national and international events. I have never missed any issue of Dawn for 60 years and always enjoyed reading it.

However, something struck me while reading its issue of Dec 8, covering the personal activities of the PML-N group which travelled to London, supposedly to know the welfare of their ex-leader and take his advice on some issues which they are unable to handle in his absence.

The news item covered their afternoon meeting in a Lebanese restaurant and their 10-minute walk to Avenfield. It seemed the reporter remained out of the Lebanese restaurant; otherwise Dawn must have informed us of the food and the drinks they had. I genuinely believe that 95 per cent of the readers must have been amused on such information.

The PML-N group has gone for a personal trip, and their activities are of no practical value to the nation. I feel Dawn’s story was a waste of time and its valuable space. In my opinion, Dawn must charge the PML-N for giving them coverage of the personal trip — and also PPP and PTI leaders too when they are on personal trips.

I may also infer that Dawn wanted to expose the PML-N leaders who are in Pakistan for lack of wisdom, because even for small thing they had to travel all the way to London for advice from their ex-leader and spend so much foreign exchange. Or is some conspiracy being hatched secretly, since consultations could have been held by video conferencing?
