MWM wants end to enforced disappearances

KARACHI: The Joint Committee for Shia Missing Persons urged the government to ensure an end to enforced disappearances. While addressing a press conference on Tuesday, International Human Rights Day, Majlis-i-Wahdat-i-Muslimeen leaders also reminded the government of the human rights of such victims.

Allama Haider Abbas, Allama Sadiq Taqvi, Allama Sadiq Jafari, Allama Mubashir and other leaders of the committee spoke at the event.

They hoped that the authorities concerned would take concrete measures to ensure no more people go ‘missing’. They also reminded the authorities that those already ‘missing’ must be freed immediately.

They added that victims of enforced disappearances also enjoy fundamental rights as human beings and as citizens of Pakistan.
