SM Law College clinch Students Cricket League

KARACHI: Mohammad Imran’s brilliant all-round performance helped S M Law College beat Szabist by nine wickets in the final of the Law Students Cricket League played at the Moin Khan Academy ground in DHA on Saturday night under floodlights.

The event was organised by Justice Helpline.

Batting first after winning the toss, the Szabists team was bowled out for just 95 in the 16th over. Mohammad Moosa was the top scorer with a breezy 55 off just 54 balls that contained three sixes and one four. Mohammad Imran and Mohammad Rizwan were in lethal form with the ball and captured three wickets each to run through the rivals.

In reply, SM Law College made shortwork of the target by reaching it in just the 13th over with Imran top scoring with a fluent 48 comprising six fours and Rizwan slamming 30 off just 30 balls.

Imran was declared Man of the Man by chief guest Kaleem Imam, IG Police Sindh who distributed the prizes among teams and players in front of a sizeable crowd. Winners SM Law College received Rs 50,000 while runner-up Szabist team got Rs 25,000.

In his speech, Kaleem who is a former PTF president and a sports lover, appreciated organisers Nadeem Shaikh and his team for arranging the fine tournament and lauded the performance of the teams. “I have played cricket myself and in Police department, sports events are encouraged and promoted,” said Kaleem. He also announced to hold a cricket tournament for law students in the near future.

Attorney General Pakistan Anwar Mansoor, Federal Secretary Law & Justic Commission Dr Raheem awan, Sports Secretary Sindh Imtiaz Ali Shah, Advocate Nadeem Shaikh, Azamatullah Khan and others also witnessed the final.

Attorney General said regular sports events help build a healthy society and brings confident among people.
