MCI failed to resolve civic issues, says special assistant

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on CDA Affairs MNA Ali Nawaz Awan on Monday said Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) has failed to resolve civic issues.

Talking to mediapersons outside Parliament House, Mr Awan said around 11,000 staff of the CDA had been shifted to MCI and were under the administrative control of the mayor.

The mayor is paying little attention to overcoming water shortage in the capital, he added.

Mr Awan said 160 out of the 192 tubewells were out of order, and most water tankers were also not functional.

Because of poor garbage collection arrangements, the capital would give a dirty look, he said.

He urged the local government to improve sanitation work, adding that the city administration had ensured provision of 256 million gallon per day (MGD) water to Islamabad six years ago but now only 56 MGD was being provided to the city.
