Land dispute claims two lives in Karak

KARAK: A land dispute claimed lives of two persons and caused injuries to three others in Tappi Kanda area here on Friday.

Police said Azmat Khan, a resident of Tappi Karak, and the members of the family of Daud Shah exchanged hot words over a land dispute. Later, Azmat opened indiscriminate fire over the family members of Daud, critically injuring five persons. Two of the injured identified as Ihsanullah, a grade 9th student, and Reehnaullah, a grade 8th student, succumbed to injuries while being shifted to hospital.

The other injured identified as Mohammad Ali, his brother Mohammad Saeed and a woman relative, were shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Karak.

On the complaint of the victims’ family, police registered FIR of the incident against Azmat and started further investigations.

Meanwhile, the people of Wargha, Khuram, Totaki and adjacent localities of Nari Panos union council on Friday protested against lack of basic amenities of life.

The protesters said the localities had no carpeted road, nor was there a water supply scheme. They complained the localities were also without electricity and a girls school. They regretted that MNA Shahid Khattak had promised to resolve the basic problems of the area during the election campaign, but he failed to keep his word.

The elders demanded of the elected representatives to visit the area to get firsthand information about the miseries the people were facing.

They resolved to hold more protests if the quarters concerned did not pay heed to their genuine demands.
