Flower show opens at Rose and Jasmine Garden

ISLAMABAD: Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz on Friday inaugurated three-day Chrysanthemum and Autumn Flowers Show at Rose and Jasmine Garden.

Mr Aziz said that flowers contribute remarkably to a healthy environment and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) has been making efforts to grow flowers in the city’s parks and roundabouts.

The National Horticulture Society of Pakistan (NHSP) in collaboration with MCI organised the flower show, which attracted a number of flower lovers on the opening day.

The mayor said that MCI had been facing several challenges including funding, but despite this it had been making efforts to achieve the target of Clean Green Islamabad.

NHSP Chairman Mansoor Ahmed Khan told Dawn that around 150 species of flowers had been displayed at various stalls, that the society will continue to hold such events in future.

He said that various organisations partnered with the society to make the event successful.

Deputy Mayor Syed Zeeshan Naqvi, Pakistan Sports Board Media Director Azam Dar and a number of government officers also attended the ceremony.
