Police access to national database demanded

ISLAMABAD: All police units should be given access to the database system of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) for effective investigation of cases.

This was agreed at the 12th meeting of National Police Management Board presided over by Director General National Police Bureau Dr Ejaz Hussain Shah. The meeting was also attended by Minister for Interior Ijaz Ahmed Shah, police heads of all provinces, Azad Kashmir and Islamabad, said a statement.

The meeting reviewed challenges being confronted by the police, strategy to enhance professionalism and police reforms. The participants agreed that all police units in provinces should be given access to Nadra’s database for effective investigation of cases.

It was also agreed that there should be one police uniform for all police units. A committee headed by the inspector general of Sindh was constituted to prepare a working paper on it. The meeting decided to work on a memorandum of understanding for sharing information by all police units with each other on security as well as other issues.
