Efforts made for containing disasters at sea lauded

KARACHI: Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA)director general Rear Admiral Zakaur Rehman on Wednesday lauded the endeavors of Pakistan Navy and the PMSA for the conservation of the marine environment and for containing disasters at sea.

Speaking after witnessing the sea phase of international exercise Barracuda-X, he appreciated coordinated efforts of all stakeholders and thanked foreign observers for their participation in the exercise.

The rear admiral graced the occasion as chief guest and witnessed the exercise on board the PMSS Kashmir.

Held from Dec 2 to 4, Barracuda-X is a marine oil spill exercise aimed to enhance the capacity and proficiency of national stakeholders to combat the menace of pollution at sea.

Air and surface assets of Pakistan Navy, PMSA, Pakistan Air Force and other national stakeholders participated in the exercise.

Drills of containment of oil spill, search and rescue operations and anti-piracy exercise were held and witnessed by 24 foreign observers from 11 countries and representatives of national stakeholders.
