FIA submits report on varsity video scandal to BHC

QUETTA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday submitted its report on the alleged video scandal and harassment in the Balochistan University in the Balochistan High Court.

A BHC bench comprising Chief Justice Jamaal Khan Mandokhel and Justice Abdullah Baloch appreciated FIA’s efforts for timely submitting the report.

The FIA had submitted an initial report at the last hearing of the video scandal case on Oct 29 and the chief justice had shared it with a special committee of the Balochistan Assembly, asking it not to make the report public.

On Monday, Justice Mandokhel observed that cameras were installed in the university premises for security purposes and it would be a crime if someone used them for illicit, immoral and illegal purposes. He wondered how a person deputed to monitor security cameras succeeded in getting the specific data.

“Federal Investigation Agency conducted procedural action when they sensed that something was going illegal on the campus,” the chief justice said.

He said that no camera had been recovered from washrooms of the university, but some cameras were found installed at unauthorised places. If it was a crime then what action had been taken against people involved in this immoral practice, he asked.

Officials of the Balochistan University administration requested the court to give them some time to take action against elements involved in it.

The court ordered FIA to take action against people involved in immoral activities on the campus and submit a report in this regard on Dec 18.
