Govt not protecting KP rights: QWP

PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party provincial chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Monday accused the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf provincial government of failing to secure the rights of the province from the centre.

Speaking at a press conference at the party’s secretariat here, he said though the PTI was in power both in the province and the centre it could not secure the rights of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa despite tall claims.

“It shows that the PTI leaders are least bothered to protect the interests of the province,” he said.

On the occasion, Noor Elahi of Awami National Party announced joining the QWP.

Sikandar Sherpao said the provincial government had failed to spend three per cent of its NFC award share on development of the merged districts.

He also criticised the ministers for their indifferent attitude towards the problems being faced by the common man.

He said instead of providing relief to the people, the ministers were advising the people against using the food items they were unable to buy because of their inflated rates.

“The purchasing power of the people has eroded due to the skyrocketing inflation,” he said. He further said that joblessness and lawlessness had also stressed the people out.

The QWP leader insisted that the PTI’s so-called agenda of change was a ploy to reach the corridors of power.
