NAB chief’s statement proves victimisation of opposition: ANP

CHARSADDA: ANP central president Asfandyar Wali Khan said that the recent statement of National Accountability Bureau chairman made it clear that political victimisation continued in the garb of accountability aimed at targeting opposition parties.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, he said that so far corruption of a single penny was not proven against opposition leaders arrested in different cases by NAB.

However, he said that NAB chief was still victimising only leaders of opposition parties to appease some powers.

The ANP chief said that continuation of political victimisation could push the country towards uncertainty. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and NAB chief would be responsible for the mess.

Asfandyar seeks probe into bus transit project

Mr Khan rejected NAB chief’s point of view regarding probe into Bus Rapid Transit project, terming it a mockery with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its people. He said that NAB was arresting opposition leaders only on suspicion while it could not put hands on members of the ruling party for corruption in the so-called mega project.

He said NAB chief could not exonerate himself through the lame excuse that Supreme Court had stayed probe into the project. He claimed that several ministers admitted that the project was recommended in a hurry and without any planning.

He demanded the NAB to expose corruption of PTI leaders into the BRT project. “NAB has no credibility as it has failed to collect evidence of corruption in the BRT project,” he alleged.
