DEOs meet target of student attendance

PESHAWAR: Out of 56 district education officers, 29 have achieved target of increasing students’ attendance rate to 89 per cent in October from 81 per cent in September.

This was disclosed during the monthly assessment of the district education officers being conducted by the elementary and secondary education department (E&SED) with the technical assistance of UK’s Department For International Development.

According to a statement issued here on Tuesday, the overall teacher attendance rate has also surpassed its target of 90 per cent due to the constant efforts of education department and independent monitoring unit.

To provide a comfortable environment for learning, the education department has been ensuring provision of missing facilities such as toilets, electricity, drinking water and boundary wall in schools.

Currently, 77 per cent of the schools in KP have all the basic facilities, says the statement.

According to the ranking of quality scorecard, the top seven DEO officers in order of their rank are DEO female Hangu, followed by DEO male Haripur, female Haripur, male Shangla, female Abbottabad, female Torghar and male Mansehra.
