Rs620m projects approved for schools

RAWALPINDI: The District Development Committee has approved 12 projects worth Rs620.60 million for the education sector.

The projects were approved at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Saifullah Dogar.

A sum of Rs21 million was allocated for dangerous buildings and in this regard four schemes were received from the District Education Authority. As many as 204 toilets will be built in 1,800 schools by end of the current year costing Rs200.10 million.

Information laboratories will be set up in two secondary and five elementary schools at a cost of Rs8 million while Rs700.2 million will be spent on purchase of books for primary schools.

The deputy commissioner asked the education authority to speed up the work to complete the development projects within the stipulated time frame.

He also formed a special team of assistant commissioners to monitor the quality of development work in their respective tehsils. He said the education authority should give monthly report to him.
