‘Iqbal’s poetry made it easy to understand religion’

ISLAMABAD: Speakers at a seminar said national poet Allama Mohammad Iqbal’s Natia poetry is completely different from his other poetry.

The seminar, Urdu Naat Ki Riwayat, Iqbal aur Ishq-i-Rasool was organised at National Language Promotion Department in connection with Eid Miladun Nabi on Tuesday.

Researcher and poet Dr Riaz Majeed said Iqbal’s poetry was unique in nature.

“Iqbal has highlighted a number of aspects of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Because of his poetry, it has become easier to understand the religion as well,” he said.

Dr Rafiuddin Hashmi said Iqbal used love and affection for the holy prophet to serve Islam.

Poet Iftikhar Arif said a number of poets used Naat to spread their message to the people.

“The tradition of Naat is as important as languages spoken in Muslim countries. A number of poets such as Amir Meenai, Altaf Hussain Hali and Ahmed Raza Khan Barelvi also used Naat to spread the message of Islam,” he said.

Waqas Khalil recited a number of poems of Iqbal which showed that Muslims cannot get success without understanding the true message of Islam and the holy prophet.
