Babar Tarar elected PAS president

LAHORE: Secretary to Punjab Governor Babar Hayat Tarar has been elected as president of the Pakistan Administrative Services, Punjab chapter.

The PAS organised elections for the office after a gap of some four years. Earlier, former chief secretary retired Capt Zahid Saeed was holding the position.

Following the arrest of Ahad Cheema in a NAB case, former additional chief secretary Umer Rasool had tried to launch a campaign against the bureaucrat’s arrest and even considered holding PAS elections to boost it. However, no elections were held after Mr Rasool came under fire for locking his office door.

The PAS elections were held at the Punjab Civil Officers Mess (PCOM) under the supervision of Election Commissioner Tasneem Noorani.

According to the election results, Imran Sikandar Baloch has been elected as vice-president; Usman Moazzam as general secretary and Kanwal Batool as treasurer.

The 10 executive committee members are: Nabeel Awan, Asim Iqbal, Ehsan Bhutta, Danish Afzal, Noorish Imran, Nadia Saqib, Hamza Malik, Asif Raza, Rabiya Riyasat, Zahid Khan, Tabraiz Marri and Faiqa Sahar.
