Panel probing varsity video scam seeks victims’ statements

QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly’s committee investigating a video scandal of the University of Balochistan has urged students who have faced sexual harassment on the campus to appear before it and file a written complaint, promising that justice will be provided to them.

A meeting of the committee which was held at the provincial assembly’s building on Friday was presided over by its chairperson, Mah Jabeen Sharan. It was attended by Shakeela Naveed Dehwar, Sana Baloch and Malik Naeem Bazai.

The committee members reviewed all aspects of the scandal, vowing that people involved in the scandal would be taken to task. “Names and identities of all victims and witnesses would be kept hidden for their safety,” a statement issued after the meeting said.

The committee members unanimously decided to bar the university administration from making any new appointments and transferring university’s employees until the committee completes its investigation.

The committee’s chairperson directed the administration to cancel all recent orders and submit a report in its next meeting.
