UK urged to ensure HR protection

LONDON, Aug 7: The Amnesty International has urged Britain to ensure protection of human rights while introducing new anti-terror measures. Reacting to Prime Minister Tony Blair’s announcement on Friday to bring in a raft of new anti-terrorism steps, the AI said the UK authorities needed to ensure that human rights were central to any new legislation or measures that might be brought in.—APP
