Exhibition showcases variety of art pieces

RAWALPINDI: A group calligraphy and art and craft exhibition was held at Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Tuesday in which works of various artists from the twin cities were showcased.

MPA Farah Agha inaugurated the exhibition and was also attended by Naheed Manzoor and RAC Director Waqar Ahmed.

Ahmed Shah Abdali had brought 30 art pieces of calligraphy and portraits on wood while Batool Qureshi displayed crafts of decorated vase and items. Qasim Ali and his wife Zubaria displayed photos engraved on mirrors.

Embroidery by Fozia Shahid was also exhibited while Shabana Babar from Srinagar displayed handmade jewellery besides Kashmiri and Balochi dresses.

Mohammad Azeem Iqbal displayed calligraphy depicting early Islam period.

Speaking on the occasion, MPA Farah Agha said art was the best form of expressing feelings and artists were ambassadors of peace, adding that they should be encouraged at every stage.

She commended Rawalpindi Arts Council for providing a platform to these artists.

RAC Director Waqar Ahmed said the council was utilising all available resources for the promotion of art and culture.

The exhibition will remain open to the public till October 25 from 10am to 4pm daily.
