PMA objects to hepatitis week inauguration by minister’s brother

MUZAFFARGARH: The Pakistan Medical Association’s (PMA) local chapter on Tuesday took exception to the protocol accorded to a brother of a ruling party’s federal minister at the inauguration of hepatitis week in Kot Addu Tehsil Headquarters hospital.

The THQ hospital medical superintendent requested Federal Minister for Housing Dr Shabbir Ali Qureshi to inaugurate the hepatitis week for screening of officials but the minister sent his brother Mian Ahsan Qureshi for the opening ceremony.

The guest, along with the doctors, visited the wards and enjoyed protocol. The PMA leaders objected to the protocol accorded to the minister’s brother.

This is the second such incident in the last one month; PTI MPA Ashraf Rind sent his son to check the sanitary conditions at a hospital and asked the MS to give him protocol. The MS later apologised to the PMA.

ARRESTS: The Anti-Corruption Establishment’s Muzaffargarh circle has arrested Assistant Director Land Record Mohammad Arif and another person for taking bribe on Tuesday.

A complainant alleged that the ADLR got Rs20,000 from him for mutation of land. An ACE team led by circle officer Mohammad Waseem Leghari arrested him with his front man.
