Shangla boy dies of dengue, claims family

SHANGLA: A 17-year-old boy died of dengue fever in Maira area of Bisham tehsil, his family claimed on Monday.

Saeedullah, uncle of the victim, Atta-ur-Rehman of Koz Bara village of Maira union council, said his nephew expired at the Saidu Teaching Hospital in Swat. He said the victim was diagnosed with dengue a week ago and was under treatment at a local hospital, but after his condition did not improve, he was shifted to Swat, where he died.

Saeedullah said the deceased had been suffering from severe fever.

However, district health officer Mohammad Riaz denied the claim of the family and termed the case as natural death caused by encephalitis.

TRANSPORTERS WARNED: Public transporters in Shangla have been asked to observe the government-fixed fare, or face action.

The order was issued at a meeting on Monday called by sub-divisional police officer, headquarters, Nasib Shah.

The police officer informed the meeting, also attended by representatives of transporters, that several complaints had been received from the public regarding overcharging of the passengers by the public transporters.

He asked the transporters to be friendly with the passengers and avoid misbehaving with them.

Mr Shah also instructed the traffic police head to ensure that the transporters observed the officially-fixed fare.
