Nine killed in ambulance-trailer collision

MIANWALI: Nine people, including eight members of a family, were killed in a horrible collision between an ambulance and a trailer on Mianwali-Multan Road near Sumbal petrol pump, some 15-km from here, on Sunday night.

Reports said a private ambulance carrying a patient and his relatives was on way from Bhakkar to Rawalpindi. Near Sumbal petrol pump, it collided with a trailer as a result a CNG cylinder exploded and the ambulance caught fire. Three men, including the ambulance driver, four women and two children were burnt alive.

Rescue 1122 extinguished the fire and recovered the bodies by cutting the body of the ambulance. The deceased were shifted to the DHQ Hospital for identification.

Relatives of the family from Bhakkar reached the Mianwali DHQ Hospital. The deceased have been identified as driver Ghulam Hussain (45), Muhammad Naveed (40) and Mohammad Nadeem (35), sons of Allah Bakhsh, Taj Bibi (80), Mureedan Bibi (50), Javeria (19), Sadia (22) and children Ahmed and Afshan.
