Woman held in husband’s murder case

RAWALPINDI: The police on Monday arrested a woman along with four facilitators in connection with the murder of her husband, and sent them to Adiala jail.

Police said the woman, 30, who had two daughters and a son, her alleged paramour, a hit-man and two facilitators were arrested, and all had confessed to their involvement in murdering the man, a rickshaw driver, in Pirwadhai area on January 18, 2019.

Masood Akhtar, a senior official of Homicide Investigation Unit, who was leading the investigation, told Dawn that the couple had acquired a house on rent owned by the alleged paramour of the woman in 2017, and with time the woman and the house owner allegedly developed relations.

The police official said after the woman was caught by her husband with the house owner, she planned to kill him and get married with her landlord.

The police official said after the woman failed to get her husband killed through ‘black magic’ and poisoning, she hired a hitman for the purpose.

The investigating officer said the hit-man shot dead the victim while he was returning home after dropping his children at school in Khayaban-i-Sir Syed area.

Meanwhile, City Police Officer Mohammad Faisal Rana has directed the SP Rawal town to supervise the investigation of the case and submit challan of the accused to the court with evidence so that they can be awarded exemplary punishment.
