UK team trains Pakistani surgeons

KARACHI: A 10-member team of volunteers from the UK recently visited the Liaquat National Hospital and performed cardiac surgeries on children.

“The Healing Little Hearts team comprising leading surgeons performed operations including the open-heart surgery of children as young as [a] six-month-old born with a hole in the heart and other complications,” says a press release.

During the complicated surgeries, the team trained the Pakistani surgeons for paediatric cardiac operations and other procedures.

The team travels to different countries of the world and performs surgeries free of cost. As per a study conducted in 2017, Pakistan has a 30 per cent mortality rate in children suffering from cardiac complications.
