Two rail car coaches derail

LAHORE: Rail traffic between Lahore and Rawalpindi remained suspended for several hours on Wednesday after two coaches of a rail car (103-Up) derailed near outer signal of the Sohawa railway station.

A power van operator was reportedly injured. However, the PR authorities said there was no casualty.

“The train moved from Lahore at 4:30pm and near Sohawa station, its last two coaches -- a power van and another of economy class -- derailed. We immediately reached the spot and detached the derailed coaches from the other coaches,” Pakistan Railways Rawalpindi Divisional Superintendent Munawar Shah told Dawn.

He said though the train was dispatched to its destination after some time, a relief train reached the spot in late hours to remove the derailed coaches from the track.
