Factory owner arrested over power theft

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has arrested a factory owner on charges of illegal consumption of electricity in connivance with the officials of Tribal Electric Supply Company, thus causing a loss of around Rs49 million to the exchequer.

The bureau will produce the suspect, Khalid Khan, before an accountability court on Wednesday (today) for getting his physical custody.

The NAB alleged that the suspect in connivance with Tesco officials illegally consumed unauthorised load since the energisation for the bulk panel meter. Due to use of unauthorised high load, the bulk metering panel became defective and 5.27 million less units were charged.
