Two more dengue patients die

RAWALPINDI: Two more dengue patients died in Rawalpindi district on Monday.

Riaz Umer, 25, a resident of Adiala Road, died in the intensive care unit of District Headquarters Hospital in the morning, a doctor said.

He was diagnosed with dengue five days ago and was admitted to the hospital.

Shahzad Ahmed, 32, a resident of Kallar Syedan, was brought to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital four days ago and was diagnosed with dengue fever, said the District Health Authority official.

Rawalpindi Medical University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Umer recently claimed that 13 people had so far lost their lives to dengue fever.

He said other people who died during the dengue season were mostly suffering from other ailments and their cases were being ascertained by Dengue Experts Advisory Group in Lahore.

Meanwhile, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid visited Holy Family Hospital and reviewed arrangements for dengue patients.

She said Chief Minister Usman Buzdar directed heads of the allied hospitals to provide adequate health facilities to the dengue patients.
