Schools mark Salam Teachers’ Day

LAKKI MARWAT: Functions were held at schools to mark the World Teachers’ Day, observed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as Salam Teachers’ Day, on Saturday.

The Lakki Marwat elementary and secondary education department organised functions in different schools to pay tribute to the teachers.

District education officer Nazir Ahmad Khan attended a function in government higher secondary school, Tajazai, while his deputy Fidaullah Khan graced the event in government high school, Titterkhel. Lakki sub-divisional education officer Qadir Shah also attended a function at government primary school No 1, Totiabad in Lakki city to mark the Salam Teachers’ Day.

Teachers, students, scouts and members of parent-teacher councils attended the occasions. Banners were also displayed to highlight the importance of the day.

Students sang national songs and paid rich tribute to teachers in their speeches. They said teacher’s role in a society could be judged from his/her role in nation building.

In Lower Dir, additional director elementary and secondary education department Fareed Khattak asked the government schoolteachers to prepare students for meeting the emerging challenges. He stated this while addressing a function arranged at the government high school, Dherai Talash, to mark the Salam Teachers’ Day.

Earlier, he examined the school’s record and appreciated the management for good performance. The students paid tribute to their teachers in their speeches and songs and presented gifts to them.

On the occasion, Mr Khattak said teachers were the real builders of the nation. He said devoted teachers always played critical role in students’ character building.

The state-run schools arranged functions to mark the day in other parts of the district.

In Karak, a function was held at government official colony school to award certificates to the best teachers to acknowledge their role in character building of students.

Addressing the ceremony, sub-divisional education officer, Karak, Gul Faraz Khattak stressed on quality education and said no nation could progress without education. He urged teachers to perform their duties up to their best abilities.

In Bajaur, speakers at a seminar to mark the Slam Teachers’ Day called upon the teachers to restore their respect in society by improving their efficiency and behaviour.

The function held at Government College of Management Sciences, Khar, was attended by elders, politicians, students, teachers and principals of various educational institutions.

The speakers highlighted the theme, aim and history of Slam Teachers’ Day, saying that day was basically World Teachers’ Day held annually on Oct 5 since 2000.

The speakers included among others director general of commerce education and management sciences, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Prof Mohammad Nadeem, principal government postgraduate college, Khar, Prof Gul Haidar and principal government college of commerce and management sciences, Khar, Prof Musanif Khan.
