Munir meets Annan

UNITED NATIONS, Aug 3: Pakistan’s ambassador to the United Nations, Munir Akram, on Wednesday met the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and discussed the progress in the preparation for the September summit which will be attended by some 160 heads of State and governments.

According to UN sources the meeting was devoted to discussions on the Security Council reforms, terrorism, human rights and the outcome document. The United Nations General Assembly is currently holding closed session on the UN reforms package proposed by Mr Annan. The most contentious of all reform proposals is the expansion of the UN Security Council.
