Clean My Karachi campaign being monitored daily, says adviser

KARACHI: Adviser to Chief Minister for Law and Environment and spokesperson for the Sindh government Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that the Clean My Karachi campaign is being monitored on a daily basis under the supervision of the Sindh chief minister and “we need cooperation of the people, which is very important”.

He stated this while talking to media persons during the cleanup work in Lyari. He said that garbage was being lifted in different parts of Lyari and garbage backlog was also being removed across the city.

Provincial ministers are also in the field in cleaning the city and work is being carried out with coordination and the campaign has started well, he added.

He also said that the mayor and the federal government did nothing to clean Karachi and it has been proved that the PPP works “because our roots are in the public”.

He added that on a daily basis hundreds of dumpers are collecting garbage as the cleanliness work is under way in Bab-i-Lyari, Khadda Market, Shah Waliullah Road, Chakiwara, Jhatpat Market and other areas of Lyari.

He said the federal government did not help Sindh in this campaign, and Sindh is a “victim of conspiracies”.

The federal government claimed to run three major hospitals in Karachi, but did not take any practical steps. Even today, the Sindh government is running these hospitals in an effective manner. He said that the mere announcement of the Karachi package will not do anything for the people of the metropolis. The prime minister should fulfil his promise to Karachi. The provincial adviser added that no matter how many stones have been put into the city’s sewerage lines, we will remove those stones and sacks.

He said the road ahead of the airport has been constructed by the KMC. If it has done non-standard work, the Sindh government will examine it.

Along with the provincial adviser, the managing director of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, DMC South chairman Malik Fayyaz, Deputy Commissioner South Salahuddin and other officials were also present.
