Family ransacks hospital after patient dies during surgery
SIALKOT: A large number of people, mostly students of local schools and colleges, on Tuesday ransacked the building of a private hospital located at Commissioner Road against what they alleged the death of a youth due to the negligence of the doctors.
The protesters said 20-year-old Khurram Rafiq of Patwaal-Chaprar village was brought to a private hospital where doctors suggested urgent surgery of nose due to some nasal disorder. Khurram died during the operation.
The victim’s heirs claimed that he died due to overdose of anaesthesia.
After the death, a number of people, mostly students of schools and colleges, gathered there. They allegedly ransacked the OPD, pharmacies and doctors’ rooms. They broke the windowpanes and beat up the hospital staff there.
The hospital management avoided to make any comment.
Later, the protesters placed the body at Allama Iqbal Chowk and staged a demonstration against the alleged negligence of doctors.
They demanded registration of a murder case against the hospital management and doctors.
Meanwhile, the police said they did not receive any application for registration of case.
