OICCI members invested $13bn in seven years

KARACHI: Overseas Inves­tors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) members have invested over $13 billion from their own resources in the country during last seven years, said OICCI President Shazia Syed during the managing committee’s annual interaction with senior diplomats of the countries represented at the chamber.

The meeting allowed participants to discuss economy and opportunities for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the country.

Syed also presented key highlights of research conducted by the OICCI, including in the areas of business confidence, status of security environment, perception of foreign investors in doing business in Pakistan compared to regional countries.

Commenting on the FDI landscape, she said that, “foreign investors, who are members of OICCI, and are already doing business in Pakistan, have a very positive view and good understanding of the opportunities in the country.”

She further said that over the last seven years, the OICCI members invested in excess of $13bn from their own resources.

The meeting was also informed that the multi-national companies were not only contributing in terms of duties and taxes to exchequer, but improving the livelihood of people of the country through their consistent contribution in Corporate Social Respon­sibility initiatives and promoting sustainable growth solutions by reducing the carbon footprint on the country’s environment.
