Dangling wires

APROPOS the letter ‘Dangling wires’ (Sept 9). The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited expresses its grief and sorrow over the recent loss of lives owing to electrocution incidents in Karachi.

The PTCL always keeps the safety of its employees and customers at the highest priority. The majority of its network in Pakistan including Karachi is underground. Therefore, the wires scattered in the city cannot be entirely attributed to PTCL.

Like most telecommunication companies, the PTCL uses aerial deployment of wires for the last mile from its poles to the customer’s premises. Moreover, PTCL wires do not pose a threat and wherever optical fiber cable is deployed, it is inert and passive and does not carry any electrical current.

In case of complaints, PTCL requests its customers to dial its 24-hour helpline 1218 for timely response. Customers can also go to our website www.ptcl.com.pk, PTCL touch mobile application or social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
