Service exports inch up

ISLAMABAD: The export of services marginally up by 1.66 per cent in 2018-19 from a year ago, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics said on Monday.

Data showed that export proceeds of services reached $5.37 billion in FY19 ending on June 30, from $5.28bn in preceding year.

On a monthly basis, the export proceeds of services declined by 13.2pc to $393.9m in June as against $453.88m over the corresponding month last year.

In the year 2017-18, the exports of services posted a 7pc negative growth year-on-year to $5.4bn.

On the other hand, the import of services reached $9.66bn in FY19, registering a decline of 14.9pc from $11.35bn in 2017-18.
